Qatar International Facility Management Conference and Exhibition (QIFMCE)
ASHRAE Qatar Oryx Chapter proudly participated in the Qatar Society of Engineers event held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) in October 2025. The Chapter President, Mr. Mohamad Mokdad, delivered an insightful presentation on Energy Conservation in Ventilation Systems, highlighting innovative practices and strategies to improve energy efficiency in HVAC applications.
As part of the Chapter’s technical contribution, Mr. Subrata Kar, a Board of Governors (BOG) member and the Chapter’s Membership Promotion Chair, conducted a specialized workshop titled:
“Everyday Challenges of Facility Management Teams – Fouling in Chillers and Heat Exchangers & Its Effective Solutions by Automatic Tube Cleaning System and Centrifugal Separation.”
During his workshop, Eng. Subrata explored several critical operational challenges frequently encountered by facility management teams, with a particular focus on:
The root causes and impacts of fouling in chillers, condensers, and shell-and-tube heat exchangers, including reduced efficiency, increased power consumption, and more frequent maintenance.
Qatar-specific fouling issues, such as scaling, suspended solids, and biofouling, which significantly affect HVAC performance.
The limitations of traditional maintenance practices, including periodic manual cleaning and chemical treatment.
The benefits of Automatic Tube Cleaning Systems (ATCS) and centrifugal separation technologies as continuous, non-intrusive solutions that maintain optimal heat-transfer efficiency.
Evidence from real case studies, demonstrating reduced condenser approach temperature, restored chiller capacity, and substantial energy savings.
The workshop attracted strong participation from industry professionals and provided valuable insights for engineers and facility management teams seeking more reliable, sustainable, and energy-efficient approaches to managing their engineering assets.
